Mike Poenitske is a native of Southern Illinois and a self taught artist whom developed and forged his lifelike drawing style from his desire and taste for depiction and rendering the personalities of life. “Everything has a personality, one must bring it out”; Mike says. "Mike is known world wide for his realistic photo-like portrait drawings and an active member of the Mississippi Valley Art Guild. He is a multimedia artist whom works with charcoal, pastels, graphite, chalks, watercolor and pen and ink. The former U.S. Marine enjoys hiking, camping and canoeing where he takes pictures of nature as well as people."
