At the age of twenty, I have just recently discovered my love and appreciation for the arts.  While I attended Gibault Catholic High School in Waterloo, IL, I took four semesters of ceramics classes, and I received second and third place in an art contest for my ceramic pieces. However, I never ventured into drawing or painting. In August 2004, I decided I needed a hobby that I really loved, so I decided to take a drawing class at Southwestern Illinois College where I was attending at the time. That is when I found my talent for creating graphite, charcoal, and pastel drawings. I was pleased to find the hobby I was looking for, and I’ve chosen to leave it as that-a hobby.

In August, I will be moving to St. Louis to attend Maryville University and major in occupational therapy to fulfill my other love of working with children and to make a difference in people’s lives. Although, I will be working hard at school, I hope to find time to dabble in painting and to continue working with the knowledge of graphite and charcoal that I’ve already gained.
