came to in the space between the grains of sand in the high desert of
blue canyons. In the place where waves break on black cliffs. My soul
fell through a green void of confusion and illusion of hallucination. A
warrior in the battle of windmills and self-loathing. A wonder of too
near and too far. Now I stand near fire and friend and offer that space
to you.
From
Now To Then I was born in the high desert of the southwestern
United States in 1956 and proceeded to create, chase and destroy dreams.
In that pursuit I have been a builder of things, boats and building,
walls and wind chimes, cameras and kaleidoscopes and much more. I have
at different times been a traveler and seeker, a painter, a merchant, a
boss, a gardener and cook, a sailor, a dad, a driver, a clerk and
carpenter. I have succeed and failed to varying degrees in each of
these.
Statement,
One small splinter of beauty in the dust of a busy road, seen by
many, remembered by few and picked up and held in the hands of one, the
only on that was gifted to see the beauty, too simple or too small for
the rest to see.
Is it real? Or only a child's
imagination mixed with the ordinary to create a fleeting emotion of
passion. So is that which is added by the viewer the real essence or the
platform that was provided to her to place her view on? The philosophy
of the answer or the question doesn't matter to the child entranced with
light and shape and weight of that which he no longer holds so dearly.
Offered to friend or pal of mother dear because that is what we do here
we offer the beauty to our brothers and sisters that walk beside us in
this alien land.
Ego convincingly enchants us
with the illusions of fear and terminal uniqueness. The separateness
that blinds us and binds us to each other is the skin between the lines
of lies. Mixed and stirred and homogenized we fly and fall and grin a
little sometimes, when we know that it really doesn't matter. In the
center of all of this commotion that we call living, there is the
opportunity to hold forth to our neighbor and fellow traveler that small
and lovely thing we have graced with beauty. Added on or perceived from
out, it's really all the same. A gesture from within my skin, pass the
eternal space to you, just where you stand just as you are.
This is it, all that there is,
one small man living a very large dream.
