. . . was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Genetically inclined toward music and theatre, she played piano, sang,
danced, and performed in musical theatre throughout her school years. Of
all the performing arts, she is most passionate about ballet and has
spent the first 40-something years in its pursuit.
Janet first became interested in fractals in 1996, after
seeing a friend's ink-jet print. Fascinated by the fractal's colors and
shapes, but handicapped by a very slow computer, she at first spent more
time exploring others' online fractal galleries than making her own
images. After a hardware upgrade, and the release of new fractal
generation software, she began creating her own images. In the beginning
she created works solely for her own pleasure. When she was invited to
exhibit and sell her work in local (Memphis, Tennessee) galleries and
art festivals, her perspective changed from enthusiastic dabbler to
serious artist.
Since 1982, Janet has taught ballet and Pointe at Ballet
Memphis School. She also directs the Ballet Memphis Junior Company and
has also choreographed more than 60 works for student and professional
dancers. She continues to be fascinated by and explore the ways in which
her background and experience in the performing arts inspire the shapes,
textures and movement of her visual art.

The medium in which I work is Fractal Art, which is
Each image is composed of many different layers that
merge together to create the final effect. It is then printed to the
highest archival standards on photographic paper in signed and
numbered limited editions.
I have a diverse body of work. There are three
reasons for this:
- fractal geometry embodies a wide variety of shapes
and textures.
- With so many fractal vistas available for
exploration, I'm really not interested in making the same image over
and over.
- I'm not the same person I was when I created
previous works. I have grown, changed evolved, regressed , remembered,
forgotten, and dreamed... and I have new things to say.
