Who knew Red Bud was a hotspot for art?
Well, maybe it isn't yet, but Cathy Dupertuis is trying to change that.
The owner of Arts & More…..Gallery at 302 N. Main St. in Red Bud has brought her interest in art to the area and is trying to get others interested by offering classes and the latest the art world has to offer.
Dupertuis opened the business over six months ago and is pleased with the reception she has garnered.
"It gives me a great deal of pride to be back in my hometown and to bring additional culture and art resources to such a beautiful community," Dupertuis said. "I want to focus on client services, run the business very well and attract consignors who want more personal attention than perhaps they would get at larger galleries."
The gallery features a main salon and exhibit hall, with all the artists represented selected by Dupertuis. International, local and national artists are well represented at Arts & More, with over 25 of them on display.
In September, Elizabeth Haury and Ron Mellott were installed in the main salon. Haury is an accomplished portrait artist, able to do a sitting for an individual in two hours or she can work from a family photo.
Mellott is a world-renowned photographer whose work has been used by companies like Microsoft.
"My goal is to exhibit and sell the art of skilled artisans, assuring quality to my clientele and introducing them to the rewards of art ownership," Dupertuis said.
Dupertuis is also on display, having painted and sold numerous works to clients. Her most recent painting is a 48x60 work depicting a vineyard, on display at Lau-Nae Winery in Red Bud.
The business offers on-site consultations to bring the professionals to a location in hopes of finding a single piece of art for a room. They also have a special order department that maintains sources to purchase any work of art on the market.
"It gives me a great pleasure when a client comes in and asks for specific art by title, artist, or just a description of something they saw in their travels," Dupertuis said. "It is then my mission to find the work. It's great to see how happy a client is when the piece arrives."
Along with the art, the gallery offers art classes for children and adults.
Adult oil painting, adult portrait painting and children's sculpting of faux cloisonné classes are going on right now. Interested parties can register by logging onto artsandmoregallery.com or by signing up at the store.
The gallery is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon-5 p.m. Saturday.
